Now I will admit, so you don't think I'm a die hard advocate of technology, that technology has made us a less personable society. A child should only have a cell phone for emergency situations. Today, society faces an epidemic of social anxiety disorder partly because they're unfamiliar with face to face contact. The phone watered down face to face conversation skills and the invention of email and the text message killed it.

But still, technology's importance can not be misinterpreted. So for those with the old school train of thought, I ponder some things about your opinions of inventions from different decades:

? 1980's; the invention of the IBM PC personal computer. An invention that has revolutionized the world.
? 1970's; the invention of the barcode, e-mail, and the MRI
? 1960's; the cash dispenser (ATM), fiber optics, Kevlar, and the internet

We can go back if you want, caveman times brought on the invention of fire, which at the time would be considered technology. Should we protest the invention of fire?

Your ancestors used wash-boards to wash their clothes but I can almost guarantee you use a washing machine, which is technology.

All of these inventions are still used heavily today, and the reason for that is they made life easier and more prosperous. But think of what your life would be without them.

My point is if your going to hate technology, don't pick and choose.

So when it comes to hating the Bluetooth headset, understand that it will soon be on this list of the most influential inventions of the 21st century. It possesses all the traits of all the great inventions that have stood the test of time.
? It has made life easier by allowing hands free phone use.
? It has made life safer by allowing drivers to have both hands free to focus on driving.
? It has made society prosperous by providing both hands to be free during phone usage. Two hands free allows for more to be done versus conventional phone usage.

What is there to hate about it? Yes, we can go back to the gentleman talking on the Bluetooth headset while others accidentally believe he's talking to them. But I'd rather make that mistake then the other hands free annoying method, the speakerphone. With a guy shouting over his phone and being able to hear his whole conversation out loud, I'd take the Bluetooth scenario any day.

The real beauty of this app and how it really really helps when it comes to running to lose weight, is that it provides you with real help when it comes to motivating yourself to increase the intensity of your runs.

How does it help me lose weight by running?

I've started setting goals every time I run to at least beat my previous running time by 5 seconds. Knowing that I can accurately track my run time and distance allows me to measure my success with ease. Before I would have to guess a little and so the motivation to track and beat my previous times would not be as strong or as obvious.

Any problems with this wonderful little app?

Surprisingly there are a lot of little apps like this starting to pop up in the App Store. All of them however are inferior to RunKeeper but in terms of the features they contain and in their accuracy.

RunKeeper is not without it's flaws either though. The big big complaint at the moment is that it absolutely sucks the life out of the iPhone's battery. You won't be running any marathons using this app any time soon unless you are a world record marathon runner! But for shorter distance running and jogging, RunKeeper is perfect. I'm sure with future versions of the app, they will solve some of battery drain issues.

I find RunKeeper an excelent way of comparing my running statistics to my overall weight loss. There is no better motivation of getting to the end of a week and looking at my weight loss for that week versus miles covered by running. I can now easily see that in weeks where I really raise my pace and intensity I will lose more weight - pure and simple. Before I started using RunKeeper I knew that was probably the case but I had no way of tracking for sure if this was the case. Now I can do that with ease.

I've kept the best bit for last - this app is completely free! There is an ad supported free version and there is a pro version which you can pay for if you like the app as much as me which doesn't have any ads. Well, if you have an iPhone already you should fire up the App Store on your device and get this straight away. If you don't - then go get one today!

Aliph Jawbone II Review

The Aliph Jawbone II has become my favorite Bluetooth headset. Recently, Bluetooth makers have been implementing the usage of the ear bud over the hook and loop. That affects me because my ears for some reason won't hold the ear bud. So the Jawbone II, with it's hook and look design, immediately caught my attention aside from its stylish looks.

Its stylish looks are really an upgrade from the Jawbone I. The first Jawbone was too big and bulky in my opinion. Although it did work beautifully and is still one of the top sellers in the market, the sequel has been trimmed down tremendously and is very comfortable to wear, really a joy to use.

As far as performance goes it works perfect for me. The sound is crystal clear, many people complain that the fact that the Jawbone II doesn't come with a volume rocker makes it difficult to use. Well, its military grade technology "noise assassin" allows for any outside noise to be cancelled out and works very well for me. The only people I could see having problems is those that are hard of hearing, in their case, another Bluetooth might be useful.

Battery life was suitable for my usage, and I do tend to use it a lot for business purposes. Jabra's Bluetooth devices probably last longer but I've always been a fan of Aliph Bluetooth devices, so call me biased.

All in all, the Aliph jawbone II is the best Bluetooth headset I've ever used and is the one I choose to use on a day to day basis.

Mobile and PDA - ECharger Emergency Travel Charger

Emergency battery backup devices are becoming more readily available as more manufacturers release their "unique" version to compete. eCharger is another company to release a battery backup device called the Emergency Travel Charger. The device purports to be a USB battery charger, battery holder, an emergency device charger and also an LED torch. Additionally the version we tested included power tips for devices that utilise mini-USB, standard Nokia devices (not suitable for the N-series smartphones) and the smaller Sony-Ericsson power adaptors.

The Emergency Travel Charger is a very small and is about 1.5X the size of an AA battery. The outer shell is made from strong plastic and it would easily fit in a pocket, or handbag. The device can also be attached to a keyring so that it isn't easily lost.

In order to use the device a battery is required: either a standard AA battery or a rechargeable AA battery can be used with the device, although it wil obviously only recharge the rechargeable battery. Recharging of the AA battery can be undertaken using the provided USB cable that provides a slow trickle charge to the battery from a spare USB port on a PC. In our tests, the battery charging capability was incredibly slow, taking over 24 hours to partially charge a 3000mAh AA battery (charging is indicated by a solid red LED). Even when we charged the battery to full power using a separate charger there was no indicator to say that the battery was fully charged on the Emergency Travel Charger.

Charging (indicated by the red LED flashing intermittently) of our Nokia 6131 mobile phone, using our own mini-Nokia power adaptor, was slightly more promising with the phone being charged by 50% in 90 minutes, which compares reasonably well to other simple battery backup devices that rely on AA batteries (such as the iGo powerXtender).

The LED torch facility is reasonably powerful and is powerful enough should you need to use it in an emergency.

All in all, the Emergency Travel Charger does as the name suggests, providing a source of battery power in the case of an emergency, however the charging facility is somewhat slow and could not be relied upon to recharge the battery on a daily basis. Despite this, with a fully charged battery, the device suitably extended the talktime on our Nokia 6131 so that emergency calls could have been made.

The fact that both standard and rechargeable AA batteries can be used is useful, meaning that the device can be used around the world as long as a charged battery is available. The device retails for ?15 making it one of the cheaper options for emergency power for small electronics and it does mostly fulfill its promises, however a more detailed set of instructions would have made the device easier to use.

Games on the CECT I9 3G - How to Find, Install, and Play Them

There's no doubt that there's a lot of entertainment available on the CECT iPhone clones. You can listen to MP3s. You can watch movies or video. And, you can play games. I get a lot of emails about how to get new games on this new 3G phone. I'll go over this process in the following article.

Finding And Installing Games On The CECT 3G Via Java: I'm sure there are other ways and places to get games on this phone, but most people will just go for the Java variety. Most of these phones support Java (check with the seller to make sure if you have any doubt), so this makes the process free and easy. There are literally thousands of Java games available - most of them are free.

To get started, goggle the phrase "get jar." This will take you to some websites that have free Java games (in jar files) via download. If you hit "software" at the top of the screen, you'll then see "games" on the bottom left hand side. If you click on this icon, you'll see several different gaming categories, like action, board games, adventure, classic, etc.

There's usually something for everyone - including the old stand bys like Space Invaders And Pac Man as well as Lunar Lander and GAEM. As soon as you find a game that you want to download, click on it's link. Most games will just have the jar file right there, but others will ask you to chose your device. Next, take the USB cord out of your phone. Go into the documents icon of the phone. You will have two options - memory card or phone. Chose memory card. Then, go into the "received" folder. You should see the name of the game listed. (You may have to scroll down if you have lots of files.) Click on the game's name. Then, click on the icon that says "install." The phone will then install the game.

When you want to play the game, go into the Java icon of the i9 -3G's main menu. Go into "installed software." You'll see the name of the game listed. Click on it and then click on "launch." The game will then begin and you can start playing.
