Shampooing

Raking through damp strands with a fine-toothed comb, yanking at tangles, brushing hair 20 times a day, absent­mindedly tugging at locks, backcombing strands for a fuller finish - these all constitute rough handling, and they're all surefire ways to damage fragile tresses.

Every time you handle your hair, even if you just push your fingers through it, you put stress on its cuticle layer, causing the cuticle's tightly overlapping tiles to come unhinged; in hair-care circles, this is known as mechanical damage. Particularly aggressive treatment can even strip away a section of these tiles. When this protective armor is compromised or removed, hair splits, frays, or snaps off.

Hair accessories

Ponytail holders, barrettes, combs, clips - most of us have been using these and other hairdo helpers since childhood. This is fine, as long as you don't use them more than one to three times a week. Wearing your hair day after day in the same style can wear away the hair's cuticle layer and cause breakage in those locks that are contained by the accessory. Position your eyelash curler around your eyelashes and carefully squeeze the edges of the eyelash curler together and hold for a few seconds. Gently release the curler from the lashes and repeat again if necessarily.

Step Five. Apply mascara

Now is the time to apply mascara – black or brown looks great for cat eyes. To avoid smearing mascara use a waterproof mascara as it doesn’t dissolve in water. Apply a powder to the lashes - this will give your lashes volume and will allow the mascara to stay longer. Look down into a mirror and stroke lashes upwards with just the tip of the brush. Make sure that the wand isn’t overloaded with mascara, if it is - take some off with a tissue before applying. Let the first coat dry and then apply the second coat if necessarily.

Step Six. Consider applying false lashes

Five Things You Should Do For Yourself In 2008

1. Take a proper care of your hands

Soft, velvety hands are one of the few beauty arsenals. Apply moisturizing hand cream once or twice a day – look for a product that contains more natural ingredients, essential oils (almond oil, castor oil, honey extracts, chamomile extract, Vaseline). The Disadvantages Of Buying Timeshare

This was probably, along with franchising, one of the most revolutionary concepts of its time. Buy one week, own it for life and never pay again. Wasn't that what they said? In the beginning one put up with going to the same place every year: "So what," we all said, "we love going there anyway." Then they said we could swap weeks; that was great when one's timetable changed suddenly. And then, the best of all, they said our timeshare resort was a member of a group of resorts and we could go to different places.

I still think that if one can afford a top week (probably around $15 000 and more) within a large family of resorts (hopefully also allied to other families for variety of destinations) and you are happy with the annual fee, then timeshare is the best bet.

But beware.

Can you afford that amount of money? If not you'll be paying the amount off at 12% and more in interest. Even if your resort is allied to others, how many resorts can you choose from? Does it include resorts around the world? Probably not. Did you read the small print, and do you know that you will be paying an annual maintenance fee whether you take your week or not? Can you afford it? It is often in excess of $700 a year. In fact the average top week will carry a fee of more than $1500 a year whether you use your week or not. What if you fall out with the timeshare resort or family of resorts? What if they go bankrupt? What if you have a bad year?

There are often restrictions: blackout weeks, and the inability to go more than once a year; difficulties when it comes to swapping, and swapping that goes with a high charge. What if you wanted to reward friends, colleagues, family, children and send them away for a week? You can't because it means you yourself are blocked from going in the same year.

Too many restrictions and obstacles.

What if you found a luxury resort membership that did away with all these disadvantages? A membership that offered access fifty-two times a year to five thousands resorts including golf resorts and ski resorts in fifty-five countries around the world, in fact mostly timeshare resorts themselves. And this included cruises. In addition to this you could offer those friends and family members three guest weeks in addition to all those weeks you might have taken advantage of. It sounds almost too good to be true. And in almost every single case the cost of one entire week at any of these thousands of resorts is less than the timeshare annual maintenance fee.

The History of Valentine's Day

Every February, across the country, candy, flowers, and gifts are exchanged between loved ones, all in the name of St. Valentine. But who is this mysterious saint and why do we celebrate this holiday? The history of Valentine's Day -- and its patron saint -- is shrouded in mystery. But we do know that February has long been a month of romance. St. Valentine's Day, as we know it today, contains vestiges of both Christian and ancient Roman tradition. So, who was Saint Valentine and how did he become associated with this ancient rite? Today, the Catholic Church recognizes at least three different saints named Valentine or Valentinus, all of whom were martyred.

One legend contends that Valentine was a priest who served during the third century in Rome. When Emperor Claudius II decided that single men made better soldiers than those with wives and families, he outlawed marriage for young men -- his crop of potential soldiers. Valentine, realizing the injustice of the decree, defied Claudius and continued to perform marriages for young lovers in secret. When Valentine's actions were discovered, Claudius ordered that he be put to death.

Other stories suggest that Valentine may have been killed for attempting to help Christians escape harsh Roman prisons where they were often beaten and tortured.

According to one legend, Valentine actually sent the first 'valentine' greeting himself. While in prison, it is believed that Valentine fell in love with a young girl -- who may have been his jailor's daughter -- who visited him during his confinement. Before his death, it is alleged that he wrote her a letter, which he signed 'From your Valentine,' an expression that is still in use today. Although the truth behind the Valentine legends is murky, the stories certainly emphasize his appeal as a sympathetic, heroic, and, most importantly, romantic figure. It's no surprise that by the Middle Ages, Valentine was one of the most popular saints in England and France.

While some believe that Valentine's Day is celebrated in the middle of February to commemorate the anniversary of Valentine's death or burial -- which probably occurred around 270 A.D -- others claim that the Christian church may have decided to celebrate Valentine's feast day in the middle of February in an effort to 'christianize' celebrations of the pagan Lupercalia festival. In ancient Rome, February was the official beginning of spring and was considered a time for purification. Houses were ritually cleansed by sweeping them out and then sprinkling salt and a type of wheat called spelt throughout their interiors. Lupercalia, which began at the ides of February, February 15, was a fertility festival dedicated to Faunus, the Roman god of agriculture, as well as to the Roman founders Romulus and Remus.

To begin the festival, members of the Luperci, an order of Roman priests, would gather at the sacred cave where the infants Romulus and Remus, the founders of Rome, were believed to have been cared for by a she-wolf or lupa. The priests would then sacrifice a goat, for fertility, and a dog, for purification.

he boys then sliced the goat's hide into strips, dipped them in the sacrificial blood and took to the streets, gently slapping both women and fields of crops with the goathide strips. Far from being fearful, Roman women welcomed being touched with the hides because it was believed the strips would make them more fertile in the coming year. Later in the day, according to legend, all the young women in the city would place their names in a big urn. The city's bachelors would then each choose a name out of the urn and become paired for the year with his chosen woman. These matches often ended in marriage. Pope Gelasius declared February 14 St. Valentine's Day around 498 A.D. The Roman 'lottery' system for romantic pairing was deemed un-Christian and outlawed. Later, during the Middle Ages, it was commonly believed in France and England that February 14 was the beginning of birds' mating season, which added to the idea that the middle of February -- Valentine's Day -- should be a day for romance. The oldest known valentine still in existence today was a poem written by Charles, Duke of Orleans to his wife while he was imprisoned in the Tower of London following his capture at the Battle of Agincourt. The greeting, which was written in 1415, is part of the manuscript collection of the British Library in London, England. Several years later, it is believed that King Henry V hired a writer named John Lydgate to compose a valentine note to Catherine of Valois.

In Great Britain, Valentine's Day began to be popularly celebrated around the seventeenth century. By the middle of the eighteenth century, it was common for friends and lovers in all social classes to exchange small tokens of affection or handwritten notes. By the end of the century, printed cards began to replace written letters due to improvements in printing technology. Ready-made cards were an easy way for people to express their emotions in a time when direct expression of one's feelings was discouraged. Cheaper postage rates also contributed to an increase in the popularity of sending Valentine's Day greetings. Americans probably began exchanging hand-made valentines in the early 1700s. In the 1840s, Esther A. Howland began to sell the first mass-produced valentines in America.

According to the Greeting Card Association, an estimated one billion valentine cards are sent each year, making Valentine's Day the second largest card-sending holiday of the year. (An estimated 2.6 billion cards are sent for Christmas.)

Approximately 85 percent of all valentines are purchased by women. In addition to the United States, Valentine's Day is celebrated in Canada, Mexico, the United Kingdom, France, and Australia.

Valentine greetings were popular as far back as the Middle Ages (written Valentine's didn't begin to appear until after 1400), and the oldest known Valentine card is on display at the British Museum. The first commercial Valentine's Day greeting cards produced in the U.S. were created in the 1840s by Esther A. Howland. Howland, known as the Mother of the Valentine, made elaborate creations with real lace, ribbons and colorful pictures known as "scrap".

However, it can only seat two people and it is does not offer the level of comfort and luxury that many expect from private flight.

Larger helicopters offering higher levels of comfort and space inside the cabin are more desirable for executive travel but these aircraft are prohibitively expensive for most individuals to purchase or maintain, which is why chartering becomes a very attractive option. An added advantage of the jet engined helicopter is that it can seat more passengers, which means the cost per passenger is reduced, and it displays more stability during flight, making the journey more comfortable.

One of the main problems with owning your own helicopter is that you can not take advantage of the journey time to relax and prepare for whatever awaits you at your destination. If you are going to pilot and or navigate yourself to your meeting or event, you are not going arrive refreshed and ready to go.

It is for these reasons that many people who may want to make use of a helicopter for personal transportation consider a private charter. Arguably it is the best option simply because they benefit from all the advantages of private travel with none of the headaches associated with maintaining an aircraft and managing flight crews.
