Shampooing

Raking through damp strands with a fine-toothed comb, yanking at tangles, brushing hair 20 times a day, absent­mindedly tugging at locks, backcombing strands for a fuller finish - these all constitute rough handling, and they're all surefire ways to damage fragile tresses.

Every time you handle your hair, even if you just push your fingers through it, you put stress on its cuticle layer, causing the cuticle's tightly overlapping tiles to come unhinged; in hair-care circles, this is known as mechanical damage. Particularly aggressive treatment can even strip away a section of these tiles. When this protective armor is compromised or removed, hair splits, frays, or snaps off.

Hair accessories

Ponytail holders, barrettes, combs, clips - most of us have been using these and other hairdo helpers since childhood. This is fine, as long as you don't use them more than one to three times a week. Wearing your hair day after day in the same style can wear away the hair's cuticle layer and cause breakage in those locks that are contained by the accessory. Position your eyelash curler around your eyelashes and carefully squeeze the edges of the eyelash curler together and hold for a few seconds. Gently release the curler from the lashes and repeat again if necessarily.

Step Five. Apply mascara

Now is the time to apply mascara – black or brown looks great for cat eyes. To avoid smearing mascara use a waterproof mascara as it doesn’t dissolve in water. Apply a powder to the lashes - this will give your lashes volume and will allow the mascara to stay longer. Look down into a mirror and stroke lashes upwards with just the tip of the brush. Make sure that the wand isn’t overloaded with mascara, if it is - take some off with a tissue before applying. Let the first coat dry and then apply the second coat if necessarily.

Step Six. Consider applying false lashes

Five Things You Should Do For Yourself In 2008

1. Take a proper care of your hands

Soft, velvety hands are one of the few beauty arsenals. Apply moisturizing hand cream once or twice a day – look for a product that contains more natural ingredients, essential oils (almond oil, castor oil, honey extracts, chamomile extract, Vaseline). The Disadvantages Of Buying Timeshare

This was probably, along with franchising, one of the most revolutionary concepts of its time. Buy one week, own it for life and never pay again. Wasn't that what they said? In the beginning one put up with going to the same place every year: "So what," we all said, "we love going there anyway." Then they said we could swap weeks; that was great when one's timetable changed suddenly. And then, the best of all, they said our timeshare resort was a member of a group of resorts and we could go to different places.

I still think that if one can afford a top week (probably around $15 000 and more) within a large family of resorts (hopefully also allied to other families for variety of destinations) and you are happy with the annual fee, then timeshare is the best bet.

But beware.

Can you afford that amount of money? If not you'll be paying the amount off at 12% and more in interest. Even if your resort is allied to others, how many resorts can you choose from? Does it include resorts around the world? Probably not. Did you read the small print, and do you know that you will be paying an annual maintenance fee whether you take your week or not? Can you afford it? It is often in excess of $700 a year. In fact the average top week will carry a fee of more than $1500 a year whether you use your week or not. What if you fall out with the timeshare resort or family of resorts? What if they go bankrupt? What if you have a bad year?

There are often restrictions: blackout weeks, and the inability to go more than once a year; difficulties when it comes to swapping, and swapping that goes with a high charge. What if you wanted to reward friends, colleagues, family, children and send them away for a week? You can't because it means you yourself are blocked from going in the same year.

Too many restrictions and obstacles.

What if you found a luxury resort membership that did away with all these disadvantages? A membership that offered access fifty-two times a year to five thousands resorts including golf resorts and ski resorts in fifty-five countries around the world, in fact mostly timeshare resorts themselves. And this included cruises. In addition to this you could offer those friends and family members three guest weeks in addition to all those weeks you might have taken advantage of. It sounds almost too good to be true. And in almost every single case the cost of one entire week at any of these thousands of resorts is less than the timeshare annual maintenance fee.

The History of Valentine's Day

Every February, across the country, candy, flowers, and gifts are exchanged between loved ones, all in the name of St. Valentine. But who is this mysterious saint and why do we celebrate this holiday? The history of Valentine's Day -- and its patron saint -- is shrouded in mystery. But we do know that February has long been a month of romance. St. Valentine's Day, as we know it today, contains vestiges of both Christian and ancient Roman tradition. So, who was Saint Valentine and how did he become associated with this ancient rite? Today, the Catholic Church recognizes at least three different saints named Valentine or Valentinus, all of whom were martyred.

One legend contends that Valentine was a priest who served during the third century in Rome. When Emperor Claudius II decided that single men made better soldiers than those with wives and families, he outlawed marriage for young men -- his crop of potential soldiers. Valentine, realizing the injustice of the decree, defied Claudius and continued to perform marriages for young lovers in secret. When Valentine's actions were discovered, Claudius ordered that he be put to death.

Other stories suggest that Valentine may have been killed for attempting to help Christians escape harsh Roman prisons where they were often beaten and tortured.

According to one legend, Valentine actually sent the first 'valentine' greeting himself. While in prison, it is believed that Valentine fell in love with a young girl -- who may have been his jailor's daughter -- who visited him during his confinement. Before his death, it is alleged that he wrote her a letter, which he signed 'From your Valentine,' an expression that is still in use today. Although the truth behind the Valentine legends is murky, the stories certainly emphasize his appeal as a sympathetic, heroic, and, most importantly, romantic figure. It's no surprise that by the Middle Ages, Valentine was one of the most popular saints in England and France.

While some believe that Valentine's Day is celebrated in the middle of February to commemorate the anniversary of Valentine's death or burial -- which probably occurred around 270 A.D -- others claim that the Christian church may have decided to celebrate Valentine's feast day in the middle of February in an effort to 'christianize' celebrations of the pagan Lupercalia festival. In ancient Rome, February was the official beginning of spring and was considered a time for purification. Houses were ritually cleansed by sweeping them out and then sprinkling salt and a type of wheat called spelt throughout their interiors. Lupercalia, which began at the ides of February, February 15, was a fertility festival dedicated to Faunus, the Roman god of agriculture, as well as to the Roman founders Romulus and Remus.

To begin the festival, members of the Luperci, an order of Roman priests, would gather at the sacred cave where the infants Romulus and Remus, the founders of Rome, were believed to have been cared for by a she-wolf or lupa. The priests would then sacrifice a goat, for fertility, and a dog, for purification.

he boys then sliced the goat's hide into strips, dipped them in the sacrificial blood and took to the streets, gently slapping both women and fields of crops with the goathide strips. Far from being fearful, Roman women welcomed being touched with the hides because it was believed the strips would make them more fertile in the coming year. Later in the day, according to legend, all the young women in the city would place their names in a big urn. The city's bachelors would then each choose a name out of the urn and become paired for the year with his chosen woman. These matches often ended in marriage. Pope Gelasius declared February 14 St. Valentine's Day around 498 A.D. The Roman 'lottery' system for romantic pairing was deemed un-Christian and outlawed. Later, during the Middle Ages, it was commonly believed in France and England that February 14 was the beginning of birds' mating season, which added to the idea that the middle of February -- Valentine's Day -- should be a day for romance. The oldest known valentine still in existence today was a poem written by Charles, Duke of Orleans to his wife while he was imprisoned in the Tower of London following his capture at the Battle of Agincourt. The greeting, which was written in 1415, is part of the manuscript collection of the British Library in London, England. Several years later, it is believed that King Henry V hired a writer named John Lydgate to compose a valentine note to Catherine of Valois.

In Great Britain, Valentine's Day began to be popularly celebrated around the seventeenth century. By the middle of the eighteenth century, it was common for friends and lovers in all social classes to exchange small tokens of affection or handwritten notes. By the end of the century, printed cards began to replace written letters due to improvements in printing technology. Ready-made cards were an easy way for people to express their emotions in a time when direct expression of one's feelings was discouraged. Cheaper postage rates also contributed to an increase in the popularity of sending Valentine's Day greetings. Americans probably began exchanging hand-made valentines in the early 1700s. In the 1840s, Esther A. Howland began to sell the first mass-produced valentines in America.

According to the Greeting Card Association, an estimated one billion valentine cards are sent each year, making Valentine's Day the second largest card-sending holiday of the year. (An estimated 2.6 billion cards are sent for Christmas.)

Approximately 85 percent of all valentines are purchased by women. In addition to the United States, Valentine's Day is celebrated in Canada, Mexico, the United Kingdom, France, and Australia.

Valentine greetings were popular as far back as the Middle Ages (written Valentine's didn't begin to appear until after 1400), and the oldest known Valentine card is on display at the British Museum. The first commercial Valentine's Day greeting cards produced in the U.S. were created in the 1840s by Esther A. Howland. Howland, known as the Mother of the Valentine, made elaborate creations with real lace, ribbons and colorful pictures known as "scrap".

An added advantage of the jet engined helicopter is that it can seat more passengers, which means the cost per passenger is reduced, and it displays more stability during flight, making the journey more comfortable.

One of the main problems with owning your own helicopter is that you can not take advantage of the journey time to relax and prepare for whatever awaits you at your destination. If you are going to pilot and or navigate yourself to your meeting or event, you are not going arrive refreshed and ready to go.

It is for these reasons that many people who may want to make use of a helicopter for personal transportation consider a private charter. Arguably it is the best option simply because they benefit from all the advantages of private travel with none of the headaches associated with maintaining an aircraft and managing flight crews.

Kabbalah Uses Scientific Methods, but It's No Regular Science

Why is Kabbalah considered a science? Because it uses the same methods as the natural sciences do. Kabbalists stage experiments and record all the settings and details involved in the process, to make sure that other people will be able to perform the same experiments and verify their findings.

As Kabbalists research the surrounding reality, they feel certain sensations, and they systematically record these sensations using graphs, tables and equations. This is somewhat similar to how centuries ago, people would never have believed you if you told them that there are tiny living things, entire organisms called microbes and viruses, crawling around all over your body, and even inside it. Back then, people couldn't even imagine that such a thing was possible. But scientific progress and research uncovered this hidden micro-world, and today everyone knows about it and considers it a norm.

But the hidden realm of reality studied by Kabbalists is quite different even from the micro-world or the macro-world studied by science. And that's because this realm becomes revealed to the researcher and can be studied only after he develops his latent sense of it. So first of all, Kabbalah teaches a person how to develop this additional, inner instrument of research - you can call it the sixth sense.

As Kabbalists begin to feel the hidden realm through the sixth sense, they research the laws operating in that realm. And just like laws studied in physics, such as the law of gravity, there are also laws operating in that hidden realm of our reality. And studying these laws in detail is a major part of the wisdom of Kabbalah.

Thus, Kabbalah is a science, but a special one. It is not studied and applied by means of our natural five senses, given to us from birth. Rather, it is a science studied and applied in the sixth sense that a Kabbalist develops.

All Kabbalistic research, the integral science of Kabbalah, comprises thousands of books that were written throughout millennia. The books remain a mystery to someone who does not know that they should be read through the sixth sense - which is why Kabbalah has been shrouded in so many misconceptions. But to a Kabbalist, who knows that he is reading scientific books that document research of the hidden part of reality, the books say: this happens for that reason, X is connected to Y, if you perform this action, you will receive that reaction, and so on.

That is, just as in the natural sciences like physics, chemistry and psychology explain the nature and laws of the revealed part of our world, so Kabbalah explains the nature and laws of the hidden part of it. Thus, Kabbalah is far from any mystical or religious practice. Studying Kabbalah does not involve faith or belief in something that you haven’t felt, and there are no rituals or meditation sessions.

Moreover, just like the natural sciences, Kabbalah can be studied by anyone. You can have any natural traits, characteristics, or mentality, be a man or a woman, belong to any nationality or religion, and so on. Just like scientists engaged in physics or chemistry, Kabbalists do not ask who you are and where you come from. Their primary interest is: do you have a true desire to study the whole of reality? If so - you are welcome.

Space Weather is the Cause of Climate Heating - Not Global Warming Theories

We have all been hearing about the gloom doom of Global Warming. Although I am definitely not a believer nor is anyone in our Think Tank after reviewing all the data, I still would like to see humans cut their pollution a bit, as it is just wasteful, inconsiderate and not very efficient to pollute when you clearly do not have to.

About now 85% of the population will tell me that I do not know what I am talking about and that Global Warming is real and Al Gore proved it. Well, would you like a bit of proof to consider? Have you ever heard of space weather or solar flares? Here is a short excerpt of what is to come, but it has nothing to do with carbon emissions:

What does this all mean to you and I and our families, water supplies, drought challenges and harsh weather? oes your broker give people a reason to come to your office and meet the agents, discuss real estate topics or work to foster community relationships. Most of the best ones do and they have Chamber of Commerce Mixers, allow committees to meet there and do a good deal of community goodwill and service. But in a slower market, what else can they do?

Well some wise old real estate brokers are renting space to Interior Designers who have a continuous exhibit and work out of their offices. Wow, it works great - I recently visited a Real Estate Office like this in Palm Desert, CA, and understand many more are doing this now too. By putting people like interior designers together with those people that can provide homes, each type of business gets synergy off the other, and a ton of cross-referrals.

Additionally, coming from a Franchise Background myself, I know that co-branding strategies work, they work wonders in bringing customers in. My question is what sort of co-branding are you doing these days with your real estate business and is your broker in on these new trends which cater to the high-end real estate buyers? If not have you considered talking to your broker about this.

My feeling is that if many real estate agents are getting out of the business why not take up that space with another business that will also drive customers to your location? And realize there is nothing worse than an empty desk in a real estate office, that is a red flag to many home buyers.

How You and I Can Turn the Economy Around in 2008

We, you and I, and the small business man on the street cannot control many things when it comes to turning around an economy the size of the US. But, we are folks who are "influencers" and the consumer seems to be undecided, but leaning towards the "Empty" line, all fumes on a faulty and thin walled propane tank. That is dangerous, but if they were to look more towards the center of the "half-full or half empty" glass debate, well we would certainly as a nation be much better off.

If the media tells you, that you are poor and you have surrendered your mind to the TV set, then of course, you would have to conclude that this add-on memory and brain of yours is correct and thus you are poor. If you think you are poor, you will act accordingly with your consumerism. If we interject and re-balance the news without the sensationalism, doom and gloom, chaos, then folks will not be negative about the prospects of the future.

The American Consumer does have a huge impact on the economy and their faith in the financial system allows the system to work. When people do not have faith, all sorts of things can happen. We saw recently in England a minor run on a few banks there, the fear of any central banker of any nation. Consumer confidence is extremely important and a major key to a vibrant economy.

By boosting consumer confidence in our markets, folks will indeed continue to spend and not retreat into the self-fulfilling prophesy of economic peril. It is our duty to tell folks just how strong this economy is and how much our consumer dollar controls it, thus by projecting a positive image, we can and will shallow out the recession that cometh and start our ascent to great heights. Britney Spears, Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie - Rich Girls and Their Real Estate

For investing in Real Estate perhaps there is no better time than the next 18 months to be one with a huge cash flow during rock bottom real estate prices. She may have bought very close to its lowest low - what would you expect from the daughter of a superstar business family with real estate holdings the world over.

We also know that Paris Hilton, although quite controversial is also a hugely successful business woman with royalty income of well over 3 million a year, you may think she is a dumb blonde, but you'd be dead wrong. In fact, Paris Hilton's on the prowl for prime real estate in this depressed market and something tells me she'll find exactly those pieces she is looking for. The term " buy low, sell high" has been a Hilton tradition and this young gal does not seem to be one to break that rule of thumb.

Nicole Richie, is indeed rich, not as rich as the other gals, but she has some nice real estate holdings, even though she is more in the boat with many Americans as to the timing of her purchases. Anyone, who believes Nicole Richie is down and out, reads too many tabloids and believes too much of what they see on TV or read in the Inquirer.

In conclusion, Paris Hilton, is beginning her own real estate fortune and is miles ahead of the other girls in the long-term real estate investment game. She has made some early decisive moves and does not appear to be stopping anytime soon. Be Great in 2008 - Tell You What You Should Do

Committed to his cause the young man called me and asked how he might go about completing his mission, a worthy goal to make the world a better place - better than when he got here. After explaining the issues and challenges and giving him a little advice, I wished him well. He thanked me for my experience, information and wisdom, then asked how could he repay me. Knowing he had little or no money coming from a third world nation I told him:

Just promise yourself to do the best in everything you do, to live without limits and to lead by example!

He emailed me back thanking me once more and reiterating his promise to continue the good fight and to do what ever it took to complete this noble and worthy goal and thus, I thought that I might share with him the secret to success and I wrote him back:

Now then, here is my best advice to you:

1. Always Work Hard

2. Work Smart and Efficiently

3. Make Lots of Friends During Your Life

4. Don't Ever Give Up!

If you wish to be great in 2008 and accomplish all your goals, I wish you well also, and to that point we do know that nothing good in life is ever easy, but doing nothing solves exactly that; nothing. So, I hope you will hear this advice and go after it in 2008 and get it done. For your self, your family and/or the children of the world, like this gentleman is doing. God's Speed in 2008.

Schools, Drugs and Gangs in Pennsylvania - Things Are Getting Better, But it's Still a Challenge

As I travel the United States I see the good, the bad and the ugly. Sometimes you think you are looking at a nice area, yet when you stop to talk to the people there, they tell you otherwise. Then other times and other places you see what you believe to be a run down and out town, but the city is alive and vibrant with the community spirit.

Not long ago, I had traveled to Pennsylvania and reported on what I had seen, indeed, I did see some problems there, but you could only sense it and could not know for sure if it was good or bad. Later when I wrote about the area someone contacted me and told me what a couple of other people in the area had mentioned briefly. Here is what he has to say:

live in an area that could be described as the tale of 3 cities. I work out of Bethlehem a city founded by the Moravians in 1740 and of course the one time home of Bethlehem Steel. I graduated from Moravian College in 1966, taught in Bethlehem School District 1967-1999 and have been at real estate agent since 2001. It is a wonderful town soon to be invaded by the Sands Casino. No one is quiet sure what is going to happen. Then I have Allentown in West Downtown and some liken it to a hell hole of drugs and death. The school district is a mess and is the principle reason new folks do not move in. The administration panders to every single group in the city. To the East we have Easton, a border city with NJ. It use to be a nice town when I growing up and in college - Lafayette College is there. It is one of three places where the Declaration of Independence was first read. It appeared that it was on its way back but not so much now, as thugs, drugs, Crips, Bloods, Money Cash Boys, prostitution are all very prominent. No one wants to do anything. Even the surrounding countryside, once very rural, is now inundated with crime primarily break-ins to homes and cars. We even have two gals who are holding up banks. Yet located between Philly and NY, we are a hot area. Only the good Lord knows for how long.

It behooves all of us to work hard to make sure our cities are safe and wonderful, it is all of our responsibilities to put into the community if we want them to be safe and secure. If we fail to act then we are part of the problem and not helping with the solution. In this coming year I want you to consider this and do your part. Make this something to contemplate in 2008.
