Unique Educational Toys

Children, especially younger ones, are in need of good education. Educational toys can aid this eduction. Of course these toys should also be fun and unique. Most educational toys are indifferent from each other, but some of these still stand out and are still unique in their own ways.

Two very unique educational toys are Baby Shakespeare Find-And-Rhyme and Baby Bach Touch 'N Play Pipes. These toys come from the Baby Einstein toy line by Hasbro. Playskool and The Baby Einstein Company make the toy line. It is unique because it is for the children's and the parent's exploration in art, music, language and poetry. Each toy package has a video, a play guide that gives play hints and a special and exclusive multimedia CD of classical music.

Unique Educational Toys

A new educational toy is the Leapster L-Max Learning Game System, from Leapfrog. One unique feature is that it is fit for preschoolers as well as elementary school kids. Another is that its preprogrammed educational games wont only be played by your kids in the toy's small screen, it can also be enjoyed in the big screened television just by plugging it to the t.v. This unique toy combines manual learning and television learning- a breach in educational games.

The production of LeapFrog doesn't end there. LeapFrog again made the Fly. It is a pentop computer not for small kids because it is most fit for tweens. It has a variety of functions. With this your child can play games and be organized by keeping schedules. It also sees what your children write by using a small camera. All this, accompanied by its very original shape -- the shape of an electric toothbrush. Can you imagine it? They still manage to give it a fun toothbrush shape with all of those electronic features. It is truly unique.

Unique Educational Toys

Warner Bros. definitely won't agree to be left behind. This consumer products will intoduce to us, this fall, new exceptional educational toys. These toys are based on the very famous classic Warner Bros. characters-for example, Batman and Robin.

Another unique educational toy is the "Scooby-Doo Funland Frenzy". This game is for children in the 4 to 6 age range. Kids will be able to learn math, logic and spelling while having a wild and exciting adventure at a haunted amusement park. Using the Vtech V.Smile Learning System, kids will only have to put in a so-called smartridge and they can play AND learn all day!

Unique Educational Toys

Each children's educational toy is unique in the way it feeds the intellect. Thus, parents should first decide what particular subject they want to hone in their kids and carefully select products according to their kids' age and learning levels.

The Ultimate solution to Global Warming

Global warming has proved to be the most serious challenge facing us today. To protect the health and economic well-being of current and future generations, we must reduce our emissions of heat-trapping gases by using pragmatic methods, technology, know-how, and every practical solution at our disposal. Consensus among scientists, governments, and business is that they must act fast to combat climate change. This has already sparked efforts to limit CO2 emissions using carbon credits. Many companies are now preparing for a carbon-constrained world.

The biggest producer of heat-trapping gases are vehicles; so we must begin limit their use to essential journeys. How you may ask can we reduce unnecessary journeys?

By digitizing the environment into a 3D virtual real world equivalent; we can simulate the majority of tasks necessary to sustain the human condition and increase socialization; Mellanium Design and Tele3DWorld have developed examples of such virtual real worlds that are available now. Skype joe now for a demo.

Now that we have the Virtual Real World technology we can create a digital virtual real world were we can shop, work, learn, meet, entertain, explore, etc., without the need to physically travel.

See http://www.mellanium.com and http://skype:joe133952 for a demonstration.

Top 10 Science Discoveries in 2006

Science is nothing other than discovery and understanding things. To some it's a study to others an adventure. One of the earliest of sciences it fails to loose its place as the number one in research and development. Every year great minds mull over the year that has been and list what the top 10 or 20 science discoveries for the year are.

In 2006 leaders among science discoveries were:

1. A chance to know mankind's primordial past by the study of comet particles brought back to earth by NASA's spaceship Stardust. The comet particles are said to contain gases and dust from the formation of the solar system 4.6 billion years ago. Around 150 scientists all over the world are involved in the study of and discovery from the comet remains.

2. Paleontologists have found in Nunavut in Canada a 375 million year old fossil that bridges the gap between land and aquatic creatures. Names Tiktaalik roseae or fishapod the fossil may well solve many mysteries of evolution.

3. For years mankind has attempted to reach the core of the earth. In April 2006 ateam of the Integrated Ocean Drilling Program was able to drill a mile into the ocean crust and collect intact samples of the crusts various layers which includes the deepest layer known as gabbro.

4. A Russian Grigory Perelman resolved a complex Mathematical problem known as Poincare's Conjecture. For this achievement he was awarded the prestigious Fields Medal by the International congress of Mathematicians.

5. The discovery of nano creatures in acid sludge in mines could lead the way to understanding life forms that survive under extreme conditions. Organisms that live in mine sludge oxidize iron to get sustainable energy.

6. An antiquarian book written in 1650 contains important information on traditional healing methods used Indonesia.

7. Genetic studies revealed that human and chimpanzee ancestors could have inbred more than 6.3 million years ago.

8. A crash between two galaxies enabled scientists to detect invisible dark matter for the first time. 9. Ocean research teams discovered that a large area of the South Pacific had almost no sea floor sediment.

10. Research showed that starlings could learn and recognize grammatical patterns called recursion once thought to be uniquely a human language trait.

In an attempt to understand himself and life mankind has continuously studied all aspects of life past and present. Physics, math, biology, chemistry, anthropology, nutrition, medicine, molecular biology and astronomy among many other fields contribute to understanding man's evolution and the creation of a sustainable future. It is study, brainstorming, and debate that led to discovery. Every year experts review the year that has been. As always lists are not stringent and a matter of choice and taste. It is not what leads but the knowledge of what has happened that is important.

The World Wide Web hosts thousands of websites that bring science closer to lay persons and knowledge on the internet promotes learning and an understanding of how science works.

Fix Up That Slow Computer - 5 Useful Tips for Speeding Up that Slow Computer!

Fix Up That Slow Computer - 5 Useful Tips for Speeding Up that Slow Computer!

Everybody knows the feeling of a computer on its last legs. Everything runs painfully slow, and with every click you pray that it won't crash. Popups riddle your computer, and you wish all of the troubles would just go away. With this short guide, I will give you 5 super-useful tips that will definitely speed up your computer, and make you believe that it is brand new.

1.Zap your spyware! Statistics show that almost all computers are infected with various forms of adware and spyware. There are programs out there, some free and some paid, that will scan and remove all traces of spy/adware that it can find. There are two free ones that I recommend, Adaware and Spybot . If you run these two and delete everything, you will definitely notice a difference, but they will not get everything. Personally, I run Adaware, Spybot, and XoftSpySE . It is very affordable, and I find when I use all three, each one finds stuff that the others do not, so its a great combination. The $30 certainly beats having to buy a new computer! Each of these programs are pretty self-explanatory, simply run each an delete everything that it finds, and you'll find your computer running a lot smoother.

2.Install anti-virus software and a firewall, run them, and keep them up-to-date! Its amazing the number of people who do not do this, and it really puts their computer in jeopardy. I remember a statistic that a Windows PC connected to the internet without a firewall usually becomes infected within 20 minutes. Don't be a statistic, its very easy to do, just keep your anti-virus and firewall software up-to-date. For anti-virus and firewall software, I use McAfee. If you are a Comcast high speed internet subscriber, you should be able to get these for free from Comcast.net. Otherwise, you could go to a local computer store or go to McAfee.com . Other popular anti-virus/firewall suites include Norton , and Trend Micro Internet Security . Personally, I used to use Trend Micro and had no complaints, but switched to McAfee through Comcast and have no complaints about them either. Steer clear of shady so-called anti-virus programs, however, as you don't want to find a virus-infested "anti-virus" program.

3.Defrag your hard drive! Everytime you use your hard drive (basically whenever you're using your computer!) files are getting all scattered about on your hard drive, which slows down the time it takes a file to open because it takes longer for your computer to find it. Windows has a built-in utility to do this, which can be found by going to My Computer, right clicking on the icon for your hard drive, going to Properties, clicking on the Tools tab, and then clicking on Defragment. This process will clean up your hard drive, by rearranging file storage and allowing files to be found more quickly. This can take a few hours, so you should run it overnight or before you leave for work, and it is suggested that you run it once per month.

4.Clean and optimize your registry! The registry is a very important part of a Windows computer, where essential system information is stored. Whenever you install a program, information is most likely added to the registry. When you uninstall a program, all of the information isn't usually removed. Spyware, adware, and other unwanted programs can also infect your registry. This is the main cause of error messages, blue screen errors, overall slowness, and even crashes. There is a very neat program called Registry Fix , which scans your registry for errors and repairs them. They offer a free trial that will just scan it for you and tell you what the problems are, and then for $37 you can purchase it and actually fix the errors. It it finds any errors, which is most cases will be in the hundreds, I would definitely recommend purchasing it, as the effect will definitely be visible. This is a awesome little program.

5.Restrict what starts on startup! Does your computer start up very slowly? That is because you have lots of programs that start up whenever your computer starts up, most of which you probably don't want to, possibly even spyware and adware. Click on Start, then Run, and type "msconfig" (without the quotes" into the box, and press enter. Now, click on the startup tab. The only absolutely essential programs are: ScanRegistry, TaskMonitor, SystemTray, LoadPowerProfile, and your anti-virus and firewall software. There are other programs that you may want, so if there is anything that you aren't sure about, then type its name into Google. There are many websites that have a database of almost every task imaginable, and they will tell you what the program is, and whether you need it or not. After this, you will notice a very visible improvement next time you startup your PC. On a slightly related note, go to your Control Panel, click Add/Remove Programs, and uninstall anything that you need. You'd be amazed at how many programs you have that you never use, or could easily do without, that will free up disk space and improve computer performance.

Those are the 5 tips that are essential to maintaining a healthy, speedy computer. None of the things are things that you should only do once, you should repeat them on a continual basis. Create some sort of schedule, maybe setting aside an afternoon every month to go through everything, and I guarantee that your computer will benefit. Maintaining a healthy computer sure beats the hell out of having to buy a new one!

How To Copy PS2 Game

How To Copy PS2 Game

Ok, before you can burn (copy) anything your PS2 has to be modded and if you haven't done that already you can do it with: Mod Chip (links to wiki article) or Swap Magic (links to wiki article) .

So, once it's been modded, here's how to go about copying/burning:

After you have downloaded the PS2 game you want and it's on your hard drive, you may proceed... (For PS2 downloads I use UnlimitedPS2Games )

You can use one of 3 good programs out there to do this:

DVD Decrypter

Open DVD Decrypter, highlight and select Mode, then ISO, then select Write.?? Once that's done, you need to find and select the PS2 game file that you downloaded--click on the folder with a magnifying glass on top of it and search for your file; change the write speed to the lowest speed that your dvd drive supports. Once you have everything in order Just click on the file and the burning process will begin.?

Alcohol 120%

Open up Alcohol 120%, click on Image Burning Wizard and another window should appear. From that window click on browse and search for the PS2 game file, find the file and open it, click on next and now you just set the speed as recommended--start the process and you're done.

Nero

Open Nero and select DVD, click on open and search for the PS2 image. Once found, set the write speed to the lowest speed and then click on burn.???That's it, happy gaming.

High Cholesterol = Heart Attack

Lifestyle and food are two elements that can have a dual effect. They can improve your health or cause it to deteriorate, sometimes beyond control. We do not realize these facts till we cross the age of 40 and then it may be too late in some cases.

Cholesterol is one of the bad outcomes of a mismanaged lifestyle and unhealthy eating habits. It is a soft waxy substance found in the lipids (fats) in the blood stream. It is important to understand the role of cholesterol in your body so that you can prevent it from causing damage and protect your heart and live a longer and healthier life.

High Cholesterol = Heart Attack

Over a period cholesterol builds up on the inside of the blood vessels. This causes the blood vessels to thicken and restricts blood flow to organs, which means reduced oxygen supply. In severe cases the blood flow is restricted to extreme that it causes the organs to fail. Heart attack or stroke is a direct outcome of this process.

Reduced levels of cholesterol in blood will decrease your chances of getting heart disease, strokes and angina. Changing food habits eating less fatty food, exercising regularly and maintaining an active lifestyle are key to looking after your heart.

Sometimes medication may become necessary to counter high cholesterol levels in your blood. Atorvastatin is one such drug that lowers cholesterol levels within safe limits and prevents buildup in blood vessels. This drug works best together with alterations in your lifestyle including food, exercise and if necessary, weight reduction.

This drug is classified as a HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor. In simple terms it slows the production of cholesterol in your body. Generic Lipitor is another drug in this category that is effective.

The medication must be used under qualified medical supervision. You must discuss you medical details and inform your doctor incase you plan to get pregnant or are breast feeding a child.

It is administered orally and you should maintain a definite schedule for taking the drug. Overdosing can be dangerous, so stay away from such practice. Once you begin to take the medication stay in touch with your doctor and seek immediate help in case you detect some abnormal reactions.

While taking the medication do not consume fatty food for obvious reasons. Avoid alcohol or other forms of addiction as they may nullify the good effect or worse complicate the situation.

There may be some side effects associated with Atorvastatin but these should be mild and go away gradually. If any allergic reaction persists, seek medical attention.

Store the medication in its container and keep the same at room temperature. All unused and expired medication must be disposed properly.

Atorvastatin is a prescription medicine and should be purchased against a valid prescription written for your specific needs.

Fighting cholesterol begins by altering your lifestyle.

Self Directed 401k - IRA Notes

Did you know you can use your 401K or self directed IRA retirement accounts that you either implemented through an employee-employer plan, or opened up yourself, to fund the purchasing of real estate notes? Many people are "dipping" into their retirement accounts because they have learned that real estate notes offer them the ability to increase the dividends usually earned through such retirement accounts, securely and reliably.

Will you be among the 'wisest' of real estate investors and look into the "viability" of real estate notes as an investment strategy to best increase the dividend-earning power of your retirement money? The Internet provides you with access to all of the information you need to learn how real estate notes can help you to "retire-in-style" without the "risks' unlike so many of the other investment opportunities out there today.

The benefits of real estate backed notes are they:

1. Generate passive income.

2. Are secured by real property.

3. Are taxed at low long term capital gains of 15%.

4. Can be purchased with a self directed 401k or self directed IRA.

Another quick note about real estate note investment gains earned inside an IRA or 401k:

Gains earned and tucked back into the IRA/401k are earned on a tax deferred basis and are taxed at ordinary income tax rates at the time of distribution starting at the age of 59 ½. Gains earned off your real estate note investments inside your Roth IRA or Roth 401k occur on a tax deferred basis and distributions are earned tax free at the time of distribution. If you use a Roth IRA/401k, you'll have years of tax-deferred growth on your investment - and NO TAXES at the time of distribution.

How does that stack up against 15% long term capital gains? Right... There is no comparison.

If you are already over the age of 59 ½ and have a Roth IRA that has been open more than 5 years, then you are perhaps in the sweetest spot of all, as all your gains filtered through your Self Directed Roth IRA can be distributed to you tax free without any waiting periods. This could be the ultimate leverage and a way to grow your personal wealth.

Real Estate Backed Notes could just be your "hot" ticket to financial success in "cool" times.

Questions Couples Should Ask (Or Wish They Had) Before Marrying

Relationship experts report that too many couples fail to ask each other critical questions before marrying. Here are a few key ones that couples should consider asking:

1) Have we discussed whether or not to have children, and if the answer is yes, who is going to be the primary care giver?

2) Do we have a clear idea of each other's financial obligations and goals, and do our ideas about spending and saving mesh?

3) Have we discussed our expectations for how the household will be maintained, and are we in agreement on who will manage the chores?

4) Have we fully disclosed our health histories, both physical and mental?

5) Is my partner affectionate to the degree that I expect?

6) Can we comfortably and openly discuss our sexual needs, preferences and fears?

7) Will there be a television in the bedroom?

8) Do we truly listen to each other and fairly consider one another's ideas and complaints?

9) Have we reached a clear understanding of each other's spiritual beliefs and needs, and have we discussed when and how our children will be exposed to religious/moral education?

10) Do we like and respect each other's friends?

11) Do we value and respect each other's parents, and is either of us concerned about whether the parents will interfere with the relationship?

12) What does my family do that annoys you?

13) Are there some things that you and I are NOT prepared to give up in the marriage?

14) If one of us were to be offered a career opportunity in a location far from the other's family, are we prepared to move?

15) Does each of us feel fully confident in the other's commitment to the marriage and believe that the bond can survive whatever challenges we may face?

Flaws Are Detected in Microsoft’s Vista

Flaws Are Detected in Microsoft’s Vista

SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 24 — Microsoft is facing an early crisis of confidence in the quality of its Windows Vista operating system as computer security researchers and hackers have begun to find potentially serious flaws in the system that was released to corporate customers late last month.

On Dec. 15, a Russian programmer posted a description of a flaw that makes it possible to increase a user's privileges on all of the company's recent operating systems, including Vista. And over the weekend a Silicon Valley computer security firm said it had notified Microsoft that it had also found that flaw, as well as five other vulnerabilities, including one serious error in the software code underlying the company's new Internet Explorer 7 browser.

The browser flaw is particularly troubling because it potentially means that Web users could become infected with malicious software simply by visiting a booby-trapped site. That would make it possible for an attacker to inject rogue software into the Vista-based computer, according to executives at Determina, a company based in Redwood City, Calif., that sells software intended to protect against operating system and other vulnerabilities.

Determina is part of a small industry of companies that routinely pore over the technical details of software applications and operating systems looking for flaws. When flaws in Microsoft products are found they are reported to the software maker, which then produces fixes called patches. Microsoft has built technology into its recent operating systems that makes it possible for the company to fix its software automatically via the Internet.

Despite Microsoft assertions about the improved reliability of Vista, many in the industry are taking a wait-and-see approach. Microsoft's previous operating system, Windows XP, required two “service packs” issued over a number of years to substantially improve security, and new flaws are still routinely discovered by outside researchers.

On Friday, a Microsoft executive posted a comment on a company security information Web site stating the company was “closely monitoring” the vulnerability described by the Russian Web site. It permits the privileges of a standard user account in Vista and other versions of Windows to be increased, permitting control of all of the operations of the computer. In Unix and modern Windows systems, users are restricted in the functions they can perform, and complete power is restricted to certain administrative accounts.

“Currently we have not observed any public exploitation or attack activity regarding this issue,” wrote Mike Reavey, operations manager of the Microsoft Security Response Center. “While I know this is a vulnerability that impacts Windows Vista, I still have every confidence that Windows Vista is our most secure platform to date.”

On Saturday, Nicole Miller, a Microsoft spokeswoman, said the company was also investigating the reported browser flaw and that it was not aware of any attacks attempting to use the vulnerability.

Microsoft has spent millions branding the Vista operating system as the most secure product it has produced, and it is counting on Vista to help turn the tide against a wave of software attacks now plaguing Windows-based computers.

Vista is critical to Microsoft's reputation. Despite an almost four-and-half-year campaign on the part of the company, and the best efforts of the computer security industry, the threat from harmful computer software continues to grow. Criminal attacks now range from programs that steal information from home and corporate PCs to growing armies of slave computers that are wreaking havoc on the commercial Internet.

Although Vista, which will be available on consumer PCs early next year, has been extensively tested, it is only now being exposed to the challenges of the open Internet.

“I don't think people should become complacent,” said Nand Mulchandani, a vice president at Determina. “When vendors say a program has been completely rewritten, it doesn't mean that it's more secure from the get-go. My expectation is we will see a whole rash of Vista bugs show up in six months or a year.”

The Determina executives said that by itself, the browser flaw that was reported to Microsoft could permit damage like the theft of password information and the attack of other computers.

However, one of the principal security advances of Internet Explorer 7 is a software “sandbox” that is intended to limit damage even if a malicious program is able to subvert the operation of the browser. That should limit the ability of any attacker to reach other parts of the Vista operating system, or to overwrite files.

However, when coupled with the ability of the first flaw that permits the change in account privileges, it might then be possible to circumvent the sandbox controls, said Alexander Sotirov, a Determina security researcher. In that case it would make it possible to alter files and potentially permanently infect a target computer. This kind of attack has yet to be proved, he acknowledged.

The Determina researchers said they had notified Microsoft of four other flaws they had discovered, including a bug that would make it possible for an attacker to repeatedly disable a Microsoft Exchange mail server simply by sending the program an infected e-mail message.

Last week, the chief technology officer of Trend Micro , a computer security firm in Tokyo, told several computer news Web sites that he had discovered an offer on an underground computer discussion forum to sell information about a security flaw in Windows Vista for $50,000. Over the weekend a spokesman for Trend Micro said that the company had not obtained the information, and as a result could not confirm the authenticity of the offer.

Many computer security companies say that there is a lively underground market for information that would permit attackers to break in to systems via the Internet.
